Saw VII gets renamed: Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive (hhmmm - just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?)

Source: Empire Online
For Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive is now what we're to call the, apparently, final instalment in the labyrinthine horror series, according to Shock Till You Drop. Because, you see, it's in 3D, and the traps will.. never mind. The info comes from some press materials for Comic Con, and Shock, who couldn't quite believe it, say they've had this confirmed by Lionsgate studio reps.

But what seems likely to us, we hope, for the love of sanity, is that this is a misunderstanding, and that The Traps Come Alive (!) is the tagline and not a subtitle. Saw VI's was "The game comes full circle". Saw V's was "You won't believe how it ends". Saw IV's was the Admiral Ackbar-friendly "It's a trap". You see where we're going with this? None of those were much good, but none of them were part of the title.

All, presumably, will be revealed Comic Con where the first footage will be shown and the panel will be shouted at by fans. Whatever it's called, the seventh Saw film, starring Tobin Bell and directed by Kevin Greutert in stereoscopic three dimensions, is out in the UK on October 29th.

To be honest, as long as the film is as good as the 6th and answers some more questions, I don't care what its called! Love the Saw franchise - even the 5th made sense (only after the 6th came out) - and I don't think 7 will be the final... altho they originally said it would run to 7, I think they have a few more planned.

According to Mark Burg, one of the film's producers, Saw VII (Saw 3D) WILL be the final Saw movie.

Speaking at an event where the Saw franchise is set to get a Guiness World Records as the "Most Successful Horror Movie Series," he said:

"We are done; this is it. We don't want to be that boxer who fought one too many fights. In every Saw movie, we left questions open and in this movie we answer every question the audience has ever had."

After the seventh movie, there will be no other movies, including spin-offs or prequels.

Being in 3D I hope they don't just try to make the deaths look "real" and always come at you out of the screen, but instead concentrate on finishing the story (which as it goes, is very clever!)
